   Initiatives of some companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the goal 15  life on land 

  

Almarai Company

    Almarai Company participated in sustainability and decided to conserve s water because it is not 'water and reduce the use of the Kingdom available to a large extent. In 2021, we worked to draft a Statement of Our Position on Water, which will outline our commitment to greater water stewardship, with a focus on Efficient use of water resources, increasing the frequency of recycling and reducing withdrawals and usage in our operations. The statement will define a long-term strategy aligned with our broader sustainability goals, and will serve as a system of governance for years to come by bringing our .workers and business units to mind and culture of best practices The statement of position on water will be one of the many ways to engage our employees in driving a culture of sustainable change through Almarai We have promoted a continuous effort to encourage increased awareness of the importance of water conservation in all of our operations.

 2- It seeks a balance between packaging products of high quality and reducing waste that has an impact on the environment, by innovating new technologies to ensure the quality of products and protect the environment.

 2021 performance and initiatives

  We have continued to improve the plastic and paper packaging process to ensure that the quality of our products remains of the highest level while minimizing the impact on the environment.

 On our goal of eliminating 9,000 metric tons of waste by 2025, we have achieved a total of 5,667 metric tons so far. In 2021, we eliminated 173.75 metric tons of plastic and 312.2 metric tons per year of paper weight. Key projects that contributed to these cuts include: Reduce the size of the packages Description Cases Optimizing the packaging process with high-temperature processing, providing customized solutions for food service customers Utilizing the latest packaging technology and equipment, allowing us to optimize the use of packaging materials Progress has also been made in eliminating packaging materials that are difficult to recycle, as well as a glue improvement project.

 3- Almarai Company has provided the best and highly qualified doctors for the livestock. In 2021, we worked to craft our Animal Welfare Policy that will shape our approach to animal welfare and control.   It is keen to achieve the goal of sustainability by protecting the natural environment.  One of the goals of sustainability is also to protect animal diversity because s located in the Kingdom, which is a desert area where animal levels vary. 

  

During 2019, the company completed an ambitious project aimed at identifying and documenting all types of birds in the Kingdom, Birds represent more than 70% of all terrestrial vertebrates in the Kingdom, which makes them strong indicators of the integrity of the ecosystem. The spatial layers of the GIS were also developed to determine the distribution and density of all 499 bird species in the Kingdom, in addition to taking high quality photographs for each species, collecting information on the seasonal timing of the arrival and breeding of all types of birds within the Kingdom, and information related to their breeding and being requirements.
